The major limitation to DSL and Cable systems is the upload speed. As businesses use the Internet more and more they realize how limiting this can be to their effectiveness during the work day. Also in past few years many companies have been convinced that switching to a T1 line that has both phones and Internet on the same line was the right move for their company. A lot of those companies have come to realize that there are two major flaws to that strategy. The first flaw is that both your Internet and phone are riding the same line. If there is an outage, they are completely down. At least with phone lines combined with wireless, you have some diversity built into the system. The second major flaw in the integrated T1 design is lack of bandwidth. Most companies are forced to work with 1Mb or less bandwidth. This simply is not enough bandwidth for most customers. 1.5Mb used to be the standard for benchmarking Internet speed. 1.5Mb is just not what it used to be.
