| Step 1: |
Contact the current DNS administrator where the domain is being hosted. Let them know that the domain is being transfered and that you would like to have the resource records reflect a zero caching state. Also ask what the current resource record cache setting is. |
| Step 2: |
Submit your domain transfer request to RNi. You will need the domain name, any email addresses associated with the domain, the current cache setting for the resource records (from step 1) and the services you would like to have hosted with the domain (eg. FTP, HTTP, and/or email). This can be submitted by calling the RNi customer service department. |
| Step 3: |
RNi will contact you once the account has been setup. You will need to upload the web site to the RNi servers. This can be done by FTPing to ftp.rni.net and logging in with the username and password for the domain account. The files under the www directory tree are served to the Internet, this is where you should put your web site HTML files. |
| Step 4: |
RNi will submit the root server update to Network Solutions or the DNS authority for your domain. The update process is usually completed within 48 hours of the initial submittal to the issuing authority. Once the submittal is completed you will be notified and the domain will be utilizing the services of RNi |
